Does your space feel impersonal or unfinished? Without meaningful design, it can lack the warmth and personality that makes it uniquely yours.
When your home doesn’t feel like home, it impacts your life in ways you might not even realize. A space that lacks warmth and personalization can feel cold and uninviting, making it harder to relax and recharge after a long day.
This emotional disconnect can create stress, leaving you uninspired and longing for a sanctuary that reflects who you are. Without thoughtful design, your home might miss the mark on functionality and inspiration, hindering productivity and creativity, especially if you work from home.
It can also stifle opportunities to build deeper connections with family and friends, as an unwelcoming environment often discourages gatherings. Over time, this dissatisfaction can weigh heavily, leaving you feeling like living in someone else’s space rather than your own.
Your home has the potential to be a place of pride, comfort, and self-expression, but without intentional design, you may miss out on creating a space that truly enhances your life and supports your well-being.
Joanna Gaines’ MasterClass offers a transformative approach to overcoming this disconnect and turning your house into a true home. Her process emphasizes the power of storytelling in design, encouraging you to infuse your personal journey, values, and memories into every aspect of your space. By focusing on thoughtful accents and meaningful details, Joanna helps you create a home that looks beautiful and feels deeply personal and inviting.
She teaches you to start with intention—identifying what matters most to you and your family—and then use those insights to shape the design. From selecting accents that spark joy and memories to creating micro-moments that evoke comfort and connection, her method ensures your space reflects your unique story. With her guidance, you’ll learn how to curate decor that tells a narrative, layer textures that add warmth, and incorporate elements that inspire a sense of belonging.
Joanna’s approach doesn’t just solve the problem of a home feeling impersonal—it transforms your space into a sanctuary where every corner feels like it’s made for you. Her process equips you with the tools and confidence to create a home that supports your lifestyle, enhances your relationships, and uplifts your daily life. Through her insights, you’ll discover how to make your home a place that truly feels like home.
Here are my top three takeaways from Joanna Gaines’ MasterClass:
Design With Intention: Joanna emphasizes starting with three words that define how you want your space to feel. These words guide every design choice, ensuring your home reflects your story and values.
Accents Speak Volumes: Accents aren’t just decorations—they’re storytellers. They play a HUGE role in defining your story, showcasing your family’s personality, and making your space feel personal and unique.
Accents Are the Soul: The soul of a room lies in the accents. They spark memories, create emotional connections, and bring life and meaning to any space.
Joanna’s MasterClass taught me that thoughtful design isn’t about trends—it’s about creating a home that feels like you. If it is a Short-Term Rental, create the home based on the experience and memories you hope your guest makes in the home.
When decorating this luxury farmhouse Lakeview Airbnb(in the pictures), I drew inspiration from Joanna Gaines' timeless design philosophy and incorporated her books and carefully curated products from Target to bring the vision to life. At the heart of the design were three guiding words: clean, crisp, and cozy, with a strong emphasis on the breathtaking lake view that anchors the entire space.
To achieve this, I focused on creating a neutral, clean palette that allowed the lake view to remain the focal point. Crisp white walls and soft furnishings paired with natural wood tones set a foundation of simplicity and elegance. I layered cozy elements like textured throws, plush cushions, and warm rugs to invite guests to relax and feel at home.
Joanna’s books served as both design inspiration and decor accents, displayed thoughtfully on coffee tables and shelving to reflect a love for intentional living. Target’s Hearth & Hand collection provided accessible yet elevated decor pieces, such as candles, glasses vases, and greenery, that added character without overwhelming the serene vibe.
Every detail, from the curated accent pieces to the layout of the furniture, was chosen to frame the lake view and draw guests’ eyes to the beauty outside. The result is a space that feels modern yet inviting, offering the perfect retreat where guests can experience the lake’s tranquility while enjoying a thoughtfully designed interior. Looking back, those three words—clean, crisp, cozy—truly brought the space to life, blending comfort with a touch of luxury.
